If the point of speaking that way is for others to take you more seriously, that's not really a good way of commanding respect.

[ He knows it only pisses people off, only makes himself enemies. It gets him ahead, sure, because he's had no problem getting to where he is now and people do listen to him... but that doesn't mean they like him either.

But he doesn't want to be liked or respected. He just wants to accomplish what he has to do.

Even is some part of him wishes he didn't have to do that. It's why his tone is clipped, something more genuine underlying it even if what's genuine in this moment is negative and ugly. ]

Hey, you're the one who said you wanted others to take you seriously, so I think you kinda care? At least a little. You also told me that you would do anything it takes if it gets you to where you want to be. The "anything it takes" doesn't always have to be so detrimental to you. [ Oria is not taken aback by the clippy tone, because he's used to negative things being hurled over to him. That's why he's always more surprised about the more genuine, positive things. It's definitely unsolicited advice, but he's been wanting to say that for a while, so there it is. Out in the air. ]

But also, it looks like you're a vital part of whatever group you choose to be in, mostly because of how you can tackle seemingly everything... assuming you actually do. Keep being the kingpin for everything and you might run yourself ragged.

Oria does that to a degree, but only when he knows he can deal with the consequences. It feels that Kurapika would just do that no matter what.
